Nothe Fort History
Let’s kick our journey off with a visit to Nothe Fort, a gem that echoes the tales of Weymouth’s past. Built in the 19th century, this coastal fortress offers a captivating glimpse into military history. As you wander through the well-preserved corridors and chambers, it’s like stepping back in time to when Weymouth played a crucial role in defending the shores.
Now, let’s add a splash of nature to our adventure with a stroll through the charming Nothe Gardens. The local wildlife are extremely friendly . We always take a few peanuts for the squirrels. Nestled beside the fort, the gardens are a delightful escape into tranquility. Lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and strategically placed benches create a serene atmosphere. The view across the water is breathtaking.
On the horizon is the Isle of Portland. Well worth a visit by bus train or the ferry My girl. The gardens are a spot where history and nature seamlessly blend, offering breathtaking views of the harbour and Weymouth bay a perfect setting for a leisurely pause and then stroll to the Stone pier cafe for coffee and cake.
Weymouth Harbour
Our beloved harbour is not just a place of work; it’s a reflection of Weymouth’s rich history and maritime heritage. The iconic lifting bridge, a photograph on most people have on taken is a testament to engineering marvels, proudly connects the bustling town to the serene beauty of the harbour. Its towering presence is a constant reminder of the harmonious dance between tradition and progress.

The harbour feels so different from duck til dawn . It transform itself throughout the day. We enjoy the early morning walk before we start breakfast service. The fishing boats leaving the harbour for their days catch the sun rising over the bay. Perfect start to the day.
As the day unfolds the harbour comes alive people relaxing, eating, drinking. Then into the evening, the harbour transforms again, people enjoying last rays of sun whilst enjoying a delicious meal indulging in soothing notes from a piano. Weymouth boasts an array of great eateries lining the waterfront, offering a feast for the senses. From quaint seafood shacks serving the freshest catches to charming bistros that embrace the local flavours, there’s a culinary journey awaiting every palate.
Greenhill Gardens

We often find ourselves here, enjoying the stunning view of the bay and basking in the beauty of nature and feeling connected to the environment we hold dear. On Sunday’s you will here a local band there to entertain and they sure do. With the most stunning back drop the vast expanse of the bay.
